Windows and Country Flag Emojis

Windows 11 can render a melting face, a pickle, and a lighthouse in glorious colour, yet the Union Jack arrives as two letters, "GB", like a label on a filing cabinet. Meanwhile Android, macOS, iOS, and Ubuntu have all been drawing flags without fuss for years. So Windows is the one lone holdout, standing at the back with its arms folded.

It has been that way since 2013, and it will probably outlast us all.

Intriguing priorities.

Two-layer context menu? TOP priority! ⬅️ Mate, we didn't ask for that malarkey. Who in their right mind... Moving on.

Trumpet emoji? Rebuild ALL emojis, add MORE! And by thunder, now I can't insert emoji into VS Code editor via + . ⬅️ As of 3 November 2026, I've noticed, they've fixed that.

I do what I want! You ACCEPT! Or learn NEW OS!

— because it is employed by most humans.

Games, mate. The choice of operating system usually boils down to computer games, innit? Well, aside from the infrastructure of governments and big corporations.

We don't say something like —

Oh, I use Linux Mint to play... games. Indeed, RTS and RPG and FPS and SUCH! With tremendous graphics!

— Not really.
